Billy Freeman

Nov. 8, 1955 – Apr. 11, 2024

As I stand here before all of you today, I remember Billy (Bay Bay) listening to his favorite music quartet.

Billy was born on Nov. 8, 1955 to Shelton Chachere ad Geraldean Freeman Spikes. Billy was the first born of six children, Billy, David Goshen, Sr., Wanda Goshen Kibe, Brenda Goshen Mitchell, Edgar Spikes, Jr., Windom Matt Spikes and his step brother, Clyde Chachere whom he loved dearly.

Billy had AKAs – Bay Bay, Bubby, Bubba, Gun, Billy Bob and he loved them all.

Billy was adopted at an early age by his grandparents, Ralph Freeman and Marie Freeman and they cared for him until their death.

Billy loved his quartet music, his family and his friends and his toy cars and trucks.

He was a happy person considering his condition, cerebral palsy. He enjoyed the family time he spent with his brother-in-law, John Clayton, Jr. and Archie Mitchell listening to his music.

Billy loved everybody and anyone who knew Billy genuinely loved him. He loved his brothers and sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews, his many friends who touched his life and whose he touched as well.

Billy leaves behind to cherish his memory brothers, Clyde Chachere, David Wayne Goshen, Sr., Edgar Spikes, Jr. (Rhonda Spikes), Windom Matt Spikes (Joyce Rodgers Spikes); sisters, Wanda Goshen Kibe (John Clayton, Jr.) and Brenda Goshen Mitchell (Archie Mitchell) along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Marie Freeman and Ralph Freeman; his parents, Geraldean Freeman Spikes and Shelton Chachere; uncles, Travis Freeman, Billy Freeman; aunts, Delores Freeman, Laverne Freeman and nephew, Zachery Mitchell.

Anyone who had the privilege to know Billy (Bay Bay) Freeman knew he was a beautiful soul.

The family will receive friends 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 20, and the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m.

The visitation and funeral will be held at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev Johnny Williams will be officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Starks.
