Obituaries from the October 17 paper.

Sandra “Sandy” Franzen, 82, of Singer passed away on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Eric Franzen; her daughter, Edwina Ledel and husband, Richard of Kingsland, Ga.; grandchildren, Anthony Ledel, Erica Ledel and Matthew Ledel; brothers, Mike McLeod and wife, Jeanez of Singe, and George McLeod and wife, Lillian of League City, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert McLeod and Ruth Perkins McLeod; and her brother, Cleadieus McLeod.

The family received friends on Sunday, Oct. 14, from 4-7 p.m. and the funeral service was held on Monday, Oct. 15, beginning at 11 a.m. The visitation and funeral were held at Riley Smith Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Rick DuBroc and Rev. Mark Schultz officiated. Interment followed at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.

Ethel M. Griffin, 92, of Longville died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018.

Survivors include here sister, Vera Roy of Longville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, E. J. Goins and Era Jean; two brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral services for Wilda Ulaine Johnson, 85, were held Friday, Oct. 12, at First Baptist Church in Longville. Rev. Corey Townsley officiated. Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley.

She attended First Baptist Church of Longville for more than 25 years, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.

She is survived by her two sons, Vick Johnson and wife Pamela of Mena, Ark., and Greg Johnson and wife Missey of Cunningham, Tenn.; one brother, Thelton Townson of Baton Rouge; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lular Townson; spouse, Herman Leroy Johnson; four brothers; five sisters; and one great-great-grandson, Bryson Johnson.

Opal Margaret Burge Cooley, 80, of Singer died Monday, Oct. 8, 2018.

Survivors include her husband, J. LaRue Cooley of Singer; sons, Jarvis W. Cooley and Kathryn and M. Kevin Cooley and Deborah, all of Singer; sister, Mary Rose B. Mitchell of Singer; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ondie O. and Virginia Stevison Burge; two brothers; son, James W. Cooley; and two grandsons, Scott G. Cooley and Joshua A. Cooley.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 11, at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Bro. Garrett Fuselier and Bro. Kennis Smith officiated. Burial followed at Havens Cemetery in Singer.
