Obituaries from the October 4 paper.

Danny Ray Dickerson died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at his home.

He retired from Entergy after 38 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Lovie Dickerson of Ragley; two sons, Carl and wife Cottina of Ragley, Michael and wife Amanda of Moss Bluff; daughter, Jane and Kenneth Bourne of Ragley; and 12 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Randall Dickerson of Ragley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Dickerson, and Pauline and Ambrose Yarbrough of Lake Charles; two brothers; and one sister.

Funeral service was held Sunday, Oct. 1, at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Burial followed at Creel Cemetery in Reeves.

Steffan Russell Hardesty, 24, a resident of DeQuincy passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017.

Steffan was a loving husband, father, an awesome “steps”, son, grandson, brother and nephew. The only thing he ever wanted to be was a Dad and he excelled at it. Everyone who knew Steffan loved him. He had a way of making everything and everyone better. He had a smile that would light up the room. He was a hard worker and loved working with his hands. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Beth Miller Hardesty; children, Kyler Hardesty and Kensley Smith; his parents, Russell and Stephanie Hardesty of Forsyth, Georgia; one brother, Rustin Hardesty and wife, Katie of Forsyth, Georgia; one sister, Allyssa Hardesty of Forsyth, Georgia; his grandparents, Phil and Pam McCloud of DeQuincy and Rev. Russell and Marcia Hardesty of Macon, Georgia; great-grandparents, Robert and Mildred McCloud of Louisville, Kentucky; his aunts, Suzann Threet and husband, Tom of DeQuincy and Heather Evans and husband, Paul of Macon, Georgia; fathers-in-law and mothers-in-law, Kenneth Miller and wife, Shronda of DeQuincy, Renee Richardson of DeQuincy and Bill and Robin Stahlman of Natchez, Mississippi; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

The family received friends on Friday, Sept. 29, from 5 until 9 p.m. and on Saturday, Sept. 30, 12 noon until 2 p.m. at First United Pentecostal Church, 228 Smith Street, DeQuincy.

The funeral service was held on Saturday, Sept. 30, beginning at 2 p.m. at First United Pentecostal Church. Interment followed at DeQuincy Memorial Park in DeQuincy.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.

Mable M. Fontenot Pease, 92, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017 at a local care center.

She was a native of Holly Beach area. She attended St. Teresa Catholic Church in Carlyss. Along with her husband, she owned and operated Tommy’s Cabins in Holly Beach for over 40 years.

Survivors are one son, Floyd Reed and wife Karen of Fairmont, Ga.; one daughter, Carolyn McNabb of Carlyss; six grandchildren, including Tina Marie Farris and husband Rodney of DeQuincy; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Pease; parents, Artheon and Elda Manuel Fontenot; and one brother, Roy Fontenot.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. Luke Krzanowski, M.S. will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery in Lake Charles.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 4, from 5-9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. and will resume Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service, all at the funeral home.

Harriet Ann Simmons, a resident of DeQuincy was born on Mar. 26, 1943 and passed away on Monday, Oct. 2, 2017 at the age of 74.

She is survived by her daughter, Lea Ann Frazier and husband, Arlon of DeQuincy; and her son, Steven Tubbs and wife, Mary Kay of Pascagoula, Miss.; along with five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Merlin Lindsey and William Lindsey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Pearl Lindsey; and her husband, Eugene Auston Simmons.

Services are going to be private.

Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St. DeQuincy.
