Obituaries from the November 15 paper.

Bobbie Faye Z. Whiddon, 84, of Rosepine died on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017.

Survivors include her daughters, Sammie Joe Marchie and Mike of Merryville, and Gwendolyn K. Borel of Rosepine; Terry Jean Alston of DeQuincy; son, William Dean (Buddy) Whiddon and Tonia of Lufkin, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Roy Whiddon; daughter, Carolyn F. Carroll; son, John Edwin Whiddon; and grandson, Benjamin J. Borell.

A private burial will follow at a later time.

Joann Marie Grant Barrow, 76, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017. She proudly served her country in the Women’s Army Corps of the United States Army and served in the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Monard Barrow; children, Gayle Podratz and husband, Craig of Spokane, Wash., Monard “Coy” Barrow, Jr. and Laurie of Spokane, Wash., Teresa Hickson and husband, Dan of Ragley, Joan George and husband, Michael of Longville, Robin Boswell and husband James of Longville, Donna Whatley and husband, Steve of Lake Charles, and Jonathan Barrow of Ragley; along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister, Judy Zavala of California and Lolly McNitt and husband, Tom of Orient, Wash.; and brother, Leonard Grant and wife, Linda of Mead, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Laverna Grant; sons, Terance Lee Barrow, Travis Dean Barrow and James Martin Barrow; one brother, Wayne Grant and one sister, Donna Blair.

There was a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, at Magnolia Masonic Lodge Post 238 in Ragley. Interment followed at Hagar Cemetery in Ragley.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Order of Eastern Star Scholarship Fund Magnolia Lodge.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.

Jeanette Langley, 73, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2017. She was a resident of Elton. She was a graduate of Big Sandy Texas High School where she was an All-State basketball player.

She is survived by six children, Steve Wilkerson and wife Lisa of Kinder, T. A. Wier of DeQuincy, Keith Wier and wife Amy of Elton, Bill Wier of Elton, Jeanine Ramirez and husband Antonio of Shawnee, Okla., Erica Langley of Elton; five siblings, Gladys Shutt of Conroe, Texas, Carol Whitworth of Houston, Texas, Claudine Hastings of Livingston, Texas, Walter T. Celestine Jr. of Houston, Texas, and Wayne Battise of Kinder; 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter T. Sr. and Doris Celestine, and one brother.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Reed Funeral Home of Kinder. Rev. John Cerneck officiated. Burial followed at St. Peters Cemetery in Elton.

Judith “Judy” Anderson, 77, was born in Newark, New Jersey and passed away on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 in DeQuincy.

She is survived by her children, Steven Anderson, Kelly Hemerda and husband, Craig, Howard Anderson along with her grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Daniel, and Robert. She is also survived by her sister, Sharon Fox and brother, Richard Starke and wife, Rosemary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Anderson.

The services will be private.

Billy Ray Parker, 79, of Singer, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, Nov. 13, 2017 at his residence. He was born on June 10, 1938 in Oretta.

Billy enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping in the tent and campers, and most of all loved being at home with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Olga Parker; two sons, Billy Parker and wife Lois of Singer, Jackie Parker of Moss Bluff; one brother, J. C. Parker and wife Liz of DeRidder; one sister, Donna Mae Burnett of DeQuincy; five grandchildren, Julia Shaheen and husband Hank of DeQuincy, Bryce Parker of Singer, Sarah Parker of Moss Bluff, Zachary Parker of Moss Bluff, Kayla Parker of Lafayette; along with eight great-grandchildren, Chelsey and Bear Shaheen, Stevie and Carmen Newitt, Nathaniel Robert Dowell, Jacob and Lissett Marie Drayton, Logan Wayne Parker; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Billy was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth “Hicky” Parker; parents, Harvey and Thelma Parker; one brother, Harvey Ray Parker; along with one sister, Wanda Ray Bennett.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16, at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Schultz officiating.

Visitation will be at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov. 15, from 5-8 p.m. and will resume on Thursday, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Oretta Cemetery.
