Clifford Miller, born in Cameron, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at his residence at the age of 95.

Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Eula Mae Miller; sons, Mike Miller (Becky), Larry Miller (Lynn); daughters, Becky Miller (Joe) and Tammy Miller (Dominic), all of Lake Charles; brother, Roger “Pete” Miller; sister, Virgie Primeaux LaFleur of DeQuincy; 18 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Zavia and Emma Broussard Miller; son, Greg Miller; daughter, Eva “Tootsie” Foreman; three siblings.

He managed Prien Memorial Park and Highland Cemeteries for many years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945; serving in Germany and France during World War II.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Thursday, Nov. 2, with the Very Rev. Anthony Fontenot officiating. Burial followed in Prien Memorial Park.

Larry LaRay Shaw, 51, died on Nov. 2, 2017, at his home in Mauriceville, Texas.

A celebration of Mr. Shaw’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, at Calvary Apostolic Church in Starks. Officiating is Pastor Jeremy Shields of Starks.

He was born in Kountze, Texas.

He is survived by his daughters, Jessica Crawford and husband Tyler of Orange, Texas, Brandi Brister and husband Hunter of Orange, Texas, Libby Thrailkille and husband Cruzz of Deweyville, Texas; father, William Shaw and wife Lynn of West Virginia; brothers, Jayson Shaw of Mauriceville, Texas, Eddie Shaw of Orange, Texas, Tim and Bill Shaw of Braxton County, W. Va.; sisters, Renee Wolfe of Orange, Texas, Kimberley Shaw Sears of Ravenswood, W. Va.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Wynn Ellen Greene of Mauriceville, Texas; brother, Sam Foster of Starks and step father, James Foster of Starks.

Eulis G. Montpelier, 88, a resident of DeQuincy, was born on July 31, 1929 in Meadville, Miss. and passed away Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 in DeQuincy.

Eulis retired from Big Star/Dixie Dandy where she had worked in the food industry for 27 years. She loved to cook and she was known for her famous biscuits and her macaroni and cheese. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW of Harrisonburg for over 20 years. Eulis loved her family and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Miller and wife, Shronda of DeQuincy; her son-in-law, Ralph Bruce; grandchildren Sarah Miller, Beth Hardesty, Whitney Reed and husband, Justin, Todd Bruce and wife, Jennifer, Deron Bruce and wife, Leslie, Travis Bruce and wife, Michelle, Velda Devilbliss and husband, Kelly, along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe Montpelier; son, Gary Todd Smith; daughter, Judith Elizabeth Bruce and grandson-in-law, Steffan Hardesty. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 10, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. at First United Pentecostal Church, 230 Smith Street, DeQuincy. Pastor Carlton L. Jackson, Jr. and Rev. George Guy will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be Cameron Smith, Landon Smith, Justin Reed, Todd Bruce, Deron Bruce and Travis Bruce. Interment will follow at DeQuincy Memorial Park.

Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.

Ronald “Ronnie” Fuselier, 47, a native and resident of Kinder was born on May 3, 1970 and passed away on Friday, Nov. 3, 2017 with his brother, Paul South, Jr. by his side.

Ronald enjoyed his life, loved his wife and children and loved to spend time with his family and friends. Ronald was a 1988 graduate of Kinder High School where he played basketball and was in the band as a drummer. He also served in the U. S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Tina Chapman-Fuselier; one son, Kalel-Corinthian Ronald Fuselier; one daughter, Logane Brooke Fuselier; step-daughters, Kharliy Paiyge Gentry (Ethan), Heavyn - Leigh Chapman and Autumn Alexis Harper; and one grandchild, Kairi Hope Gentry.

He is also survived by his mother, Bertha South Fuselier; and father, James Fuselier, Sr.; six brothers, Fredrick South (Angela) and Paul South of Kinder, James Fuselier, Jr. (Christine) of Virginia, Patterson Fuselier (Takeisha) of Maryland, Kori Westbrook of Houma, and Jadarius Fuselier of Mississippi.

Also, he is survived by five sisters, Ramona Ceasar, Felicite Franklin and Surnovia Hamilton of Kinder, Latrice Fuselier and Tori Westbook of Houma; one godchild, KeAndre South along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and two special friends, Maudrey Stenson and George Stenson.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clara South and Moses South, Viola Fuselier and Joseph Fuselier; and one brother-in-law, Kennen Hamilton.

The funeral service was held on Monday, Nov. 6, beginning at 11 a.m. at Apostolic Temple, 2711 W Prien Lake Road, Lake Charles. Pastor Rick Treece officiated. A private burial was held at DeQuincy Memorial Park.

Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth, DeQuincy.

Mary Lopez Hawkins, 75, of DeRidder died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, in Lake Charles. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 12 noon at Chaddick Funeral Home. Interment will be in Ritchie Cemetery.

She is survived by one daughter, Frances Magbee Fontenot and Randall of Ragley; two sons, Jamey Lewis Everett and Robert King Everett, both of DeRidder; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Edith Lopez Short of Moss Bluff; and three brothers, Peter Lopez of Dennison, Texas, Paul Lopez of DeRidder, and Van Lopez of Deville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Jesse Lopez; and husbands, Wayne Hawkins, Charles Everett and Bill Magbee.

Verdois Alexander Savoy, 89, of Lumberton, Texas died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at Mid-Jefferson Extended Care in Nederland, Texas. She was born in Bel.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Hughes and husband, Carlos of Lumberton, Texas; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Audrey Alexander, of Kinder.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lilly Mae Fontenot Alexander and Cody James Alexander; husband, Presley Savoy; and one sister.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 8, at The Apostolic Church, 3333 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont, with her graveside service to follow at 3 p.m., at Creel Memorial Gardens in Reeves.
