Sam Foster, 84, a native and resident of Starks, was born on Jan. 25, 1933 and passed away on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018 at his residence in Starks.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Henrietta Hollie Foster; his children, Jimmy Foster and wife, Karen of Waldren, Ark.; David Foster and wife, Rose of Lunita, Darren Foster of Fields, Harold Foster of Starks and Dean Foster of Starks, along with 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Foster and Florence Perkins Foster; brothers, Carl Foster, Leo Foster; sisters, Myrtle Cooper, Lurlene Dennis, Mildred Etheridge, Ruby Lee Deaton, Bertie Duggan; and his daughter-in-law, Paula Foster.

The family received friends on Thursday, Jan. 4, from 5- 9 p.m. at The First United Pentecostal Church in Starks and the funeral service was held on Friday, Jan. 5, beginning at 10 a.m. at The First United Pentecostal Church in Starks. Interment followed at Hyatt Cemetery in Fields.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.

Richard Allen Laubach, 80, of Lake Charles died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, in a Houston, Texas hospital.

Mr. Laubach was born in Nazareth, Pa. and had resided in Lake Charles for the past 35 years. He was a graduate of Nazareth High School, where he was the valedictorian and on the wrestling team. Richard entered the U.S. Air Force at the age of 17 in hopes of becoming a pilot. He served 23 years in the Air Force and retired as a Staff Sergeant. During his service, he graduated with his BS in Engineering concentrated in mechanical. He went on to work for Ingersoll-Rand (Dresser-Rand) for 25 years and retired ten years ago. He was a member of the VFW Post #2130 and the American Legion Post #1.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Laubach of Lake Charles; daughters, Rosalind Goodwin and husband Martin of Lake Charles, Andrea Matte and husband Christopher of DeQuincy, and Dawn Chapman of Sulphur; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gregory Rueben Laubach and Anna Graver; and one sister.

His funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 9, at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Lamar Huffman officiated. Burial followed in Highland Memory Gardens.

A. Burney Ragle, 96, of Longville, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, in Lake Charles.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 9, a Broadland Bible Church in DeRidder.

Lennie "Fay" Burge Coleman, 70, of Singer died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018. She was a native and resident of Singer.

Survivors include her husband, Clifford Coleman of Singer; son, Jerry Coleman of Singer, daughters, Christina Curtis and Bill of Port Allen and Janie Stevens and Billy Ray of Singer; brothers, Danny Burge of DeQuincy and Billy Burge of Arkansas; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Tenieve Burge; one sister; and one granddaughter, Gracie Lynn.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 6 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Burial followed at Havens Cemetery in Singer. Pastor Garrett Fuselier officiated.

Rachel Pearl Slaydon, 72, of Singer died Friday, Jan. 5, 2018. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 8, at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Burial followed at Newlin Cemetery in Singer.
