Obituaries from the June 27 paper.

Juliette “Judy” Martin, 74, a resident of Brookeland, Texas, was born on May 18, 1944 and passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in Beaumont, Texas.

She is survived by her sons, Floyd Martin, Jr. and wife, Dawne of Buna, Texas, Richard Martin of Brookeland, Texas and Brian Keith Martin and wife, Janna of Silsbee, Texas; grandchildren, Justin, Ryan, Sean, Shane, Drew, Camrie and Kelcie; great grandchildren, Abel and Clayton. She is also survived by her brother, Jim Martin, and sisters, Pat Cordell and Dorothy Howard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Martin, Sr.; her parents, Luther Martin and Jessie Cox Martin; four brothers and four sisters.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.

Lela Florence “Flo” Carlin, 71, died Friday, June 22, 2018, in her residence.

She was a native of Oak Grove and had been a resident of Sulphur for over 25 years, coming from DeQuincy.

Survivors include her daughters, Angie Carlin, Catherine Higginbotham and Brenda Coats, all of Sulphur; brother, Mark Landry of Lafayette; six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Thomas Carlin.

A private memorial service will be held by her family. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.

Roosevelt McCoy, Jr., 57, a resident of DeQuincy was born on Aug. 6, 1960 in Kinder and passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018 in Lafayette.

He is survived by his wife, Leona Bias McCoy; his children, Roosevelt McCoy, III and wife, Sharon of Orange, Texas, Renika Bias, A’Kailen Williams and Janna McCoy, all of DeQuincy; along with one grandchild, Alyssah Fontenot of Ragley; and one Godchild, Miranda Lashay Snell.

He is also survived by his brothers, Raymond Harrison and wife, Rose of DeRidder, Bryan McCoy and wife, Beverly of Newton, Texas; his sisters, Bridgett Hudson and husband, Darrell of Prairieville and Linda Ned of DeQuincy.

He is also survived by four uncles, five aunts, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt McCoy, Sr. and Mary Harrison McCoy.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 30, from 9-11 a.m. at Riley Smith Funeral Home with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Pastor James Harris will officiate. Interment will follow at Paradise Cemetery in DeQuincy.

Van Lofton Vallery, of DeQuincy was born May 9, 1939 in Westlake and passed away Sautrday, June 23, 2018 in DeQuincy.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Vallery; children, Naomi Pousson and husband Scott of DeQuincy, Melissa Collins of Westlake, Micheal Vallery, Sr. and fiancee, Kisha, Heather Vallery and fiance, Jason Basco of Westlake; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Thomas Vallery and wife, Sue of Rusk, Texas and Sexton Vallery and wife, Lana of Marshall, Texas.

Van was preceded in death by his parents, A.J. and Cora Lofton; grandchildren, Brandon Clark, Laurel Vallery and Michael Vallery, Jr; and sister, Gloria Hatchett.

The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 25 at Bible Baptist Church, 311 2nd Street, DeQuincy with a 7 p.m. funeral service. A prayer service was held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, at the church with interment following at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.

Joyce Marie Bruce Trussell, 68, was born Mar. 30, 1950 and passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018. Joyce worked as a waitress and she was a homemaker. She enjoyed going to church. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and watching Criminal Minds.

She is survived by her sons, Daniel Richard Hill and wife, Donna Marie Liddek Hill of Malakoff, Texas and Casey Trussell of Vidor, Texas; grandchildren, Angel and Haelee along with numerous other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry L. Trussell.

The family received friends on Saturday, June 30, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. with the memorial service beginning at 1 p.m. The services were held at Trinity Baptist Church in Vidor, Texas.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.

Rachel Rainwater Langton, 65, a resident of DeQuincy, was born on Sept. 8, 1952 in Shreveport and passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 in DeQuincy.

She is survived by her sons, Jay Langton and wife, Jennifer and Marcus Myers all of DeQuincy; along with six grandchildren, Triston, Brandon, Jaylin, Kennedi, Halli Jae and Walker. She is also survived by four brothers and three sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ruth Rainwater.

The family received friends on Tuesday, June 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Bible Baptist Church, with the funeral service to be held on Wednesday, June 27, beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Riley Smith Memorial Park in DeQuincy.

Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
