Clarence Chandler

Clarence “Sonny” Clifton Chandler, 72, of DeQuincy, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019 at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. 

He was born to his late parents, Clarence and Hallie Chandler on Oct. 13, 1946 in New Orleans,. He was proud of his military service in the United States Navy, where he served during Vietnam. 

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and tending to his garden. He was active in various church activities. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mona Chandler; one son, Clarence Christopher Chandler and wife Tonya of Ragley; two daughters, Susan Moses and Julie Christine Chandler, both of DeQuincy; one sister, Mary Jane Barbery and husband Sam of DeQuincy; eight grandchildren, Rebekah Moses Bourque and husband Ryan of Lake Charles, Bethany Moses of Dallas, Texas, Hallie Moses Wall and husband Dr. Andrew of West Virginia, Justin Vallery of DeQuincy, Morgan Vallery of DeQuincy, and Lyndsie Charpentier of New Iberia, Christopher Cade Chandler of Sulphur, Taylor Chandler of Ragley; along with eight great-grandchildren.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Hallie Chandler. 

Services were held at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home on Monday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. with Mike Streams officiating. Visitation was at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home on Sunday, Jan. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation resumed at the funeral home on Monday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial followed at Perkins Cemetery. 

Services were entrusted to Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, 205 E. Harrison St., DeQuincy.
