Services for Dorothy Louise Guidry Washington, 86, were held Saturday, Jan. 26, at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church in DeQuincy at 1 p.m. with Rev. James Boyd Harris officiating.
She died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019.
She was born in Houston, Texas. She worked at many of the surrounding area hospitals and agencies before starting a home health agency of her own with a coworker, Gloria Jones, in Bon Wier, Texas.
She is survived by her daughter, Doris Faye Washington of DeQuincy; two granddaughters; 12 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and John Johns; grandparents, Rudolph and Mary Guidry; husband, Ellis Washington Sr.; one brother; sons, Ellis Washington Jr., Rodney Stewart Hollins, George Ellis Washington, and Vernon Wayne Washington; daughters, Alice Marie Washington, Penelope Washington Stevenson and Verna Jayne Washington; one granddaughter, and one great-great-granddaughter.
