Joyce Cleary, 81, passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2019 at her residence in Sulphur.
Joyce was born and raised in Lake Charles, but spent time living in Florida, Las Vegas, Austin, and Germany before coming back to Lake Charles. She was a social butterfly and never met a stranger, which was an asset during her many years managing local restaurants.
Joyce is survived by her two daughters, Gayle Higby and husband Jeffery of Katy, Texas, and Tina Reeves of DeQuincy; one son, William R. Cleary of Sulphur; two grandchildren, Nikki Reeves and Caleb Reeves; four brothers, Clifton Reeves of Topsy, Wayne Reeves and wife Betty of Topsy, Mervin Reeves and wife Peggy of Topsy, and Pete Reeves and wife Marion of Moss Bluff; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ruth Reeves; daughter, Phyllis Cleary; son-in-law, Randy Reeves; sister, Marie Gill; and brother, Ovie Reeves.
The visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 20, from 5-9 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. The funeral service was held Monday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. Interment was at Creel Memorial Gardens. Rev. John Palir, III and Rev. Jon Hair officiated.
