L. W. Perkins, Sr.

L. W. “Dud” Perkins, Sr., 88, of DeQuincy, passed away on Thursday, Jan, 10, 2019 at his residence. 

He was born to his late parents, Lyman and Ethel Perkins, on Aug. 26, 1930 in Starks. 

He was a Private in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for Bethlehem Steel and retired in 1985. He later married Diane in 1965, and moved to DeQuincy where he raised his family. He enjoyed watching sports, visiting with his friends and family, and loved working with his hands whether it be mechanic, construction, or helping others. He was an excellent Artist, and had a degree in Drafting from Sowela, which he got later in life.

He is survived by his three daughters, Jeana, Mary (William), Ruth (Kenneth); and one son, Wendell (Rhonda); two sisters, Alva Allemand of Beaumont, Texas, Freddie Ann LeBlanc of Erath; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Dud was preceded in death by his loving wife of 32 years, Diane; his parents; three brothers; and four sisters.

Visitation was held on Saturday, Jan. 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home of DeQuincy. A private service will be held at a later date, with burial to follow at Rigmaiden Cemetery. 

Services were entrusted to Hixson Snider Funeral Home, 205 E. Harrison St., DeQuincy.
