Mildred Verdine, 69, a native and resident of Starks, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell Lynn Verdine; children, Ken Murrell and wife, Gaynell of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. and Kim Sartin and husband, Darren of Starks; grandchildren, Krystyn, Kyle, Alexis and Shaina; and great-grandchildren, Kobyn, Rhyse, and Kadie. She is also survived by her sisters, Christine Patton of Vidor, Texas, Flora Bussell and husband, BoBo of Starks, and Mary Anderson of Starks; and her brothers, Jim Johnson of Frisco, Texas and Jesse Johnson of Diboll, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Albert Johnson and Elvia Lee Wills Johnson; and one brother, George Johnson
The family received friends on Sunday, Jan. 13, from 5- 9 p.m. at Calvary Apostolic Church, 4270 Highway 12, Starks. The funeral service was held at Calvary Apostolic Church on Monday, Jan. 14, beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor Jeremy Shields officiated. Interment followed at Doyle Cemetery in Starks.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
