Wilda Moon

Wilda Jones Coldiron Moon died on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at The Retreat in Beaufort, S.C. 

She was born in Longville. She was a 1951 graduate of Northwestern State College in Natchitoches. Following college graduation with a Bachelor of Arts, she then moved to Oklahoma where she began her teaching career in 1952. She moved in 1954 to Baton Rouge and taught school in Louisiana for the next 36 years. She taught at College Oaks, Nelson, and Oak Park Elementary.

She was a long time member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir.

She is survived by her children, Nancy Coldiron Ferry (Steve) and Kimet Charles Coldiron (Susan); five grandchildren; two step-children; five step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Izora Pettus and Chappell Bolivar Jones; one sister; her husband Col. Theodore Moon, and her step-son, Teddy Moon.

A celebration of life service was held Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Lake Charle.Burial was at Prien Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 4020 Hodges St., Lake Charles LA 70605.
