Benefit set at VFW for Lawton Royer

A benefit is set for Lawton Royer, who is fighting liver and colon cancer.

The first event on Friday, Mar. 1, is a Pool Tournament at the DeQuincy VFW Post. Registration will be held from 7-8 p.m. and the tournament starts at 8 p.m.

Events at the VFW Post on Saturday, Mar. 2, include a $1-100 poker chip raffle for fishing gear, a silent auction from 5-7 p.m., a bake sale from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and a live auction at 8 p.m.

Pre-sale jambalaya dinners may be bought for $10 at Xanadu and Hargrove Mall through Friday afternoon of Mar. 1. There are 150 dinners available on a first come, first serve basis.

Food for sale from 12 .am.-2 p.m. (dine in or take out) will include chicken and sausage gumbo with potato salad, red beans and sausage with cornbread, nachos, canned drinks, and bottled water.

A washer tournament will be held; registration begins at 5 p.m. and the tournament begins at 6 p.m.

DeQuincy High School’s jazz band, “In Real Life” will perform during the afternoon. Charlie Wayne LeBoeuf will perform from 9 p.m. to 12 midnight.

Royer is married the former Stesha Johnson and they have two children.
