Harris Ray “Ray Boy” Bass, was born on Apr. 12, 1927 and passed away on Saturday, Mar. 2, 2019 at Harbor Hospice.
He was born to his late parents, Jerry and Mary Bass, in Starks where he lived all of his life. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Starks where he served as a deacon for many years. He also served his country in the United States Navy for three years.
He is survived by his son, Raylen Bass and wife Elaine; daughter, Carolyn Kay Gearen; grandsons, Shane Fountain and wife Wendi, and Stephen Clark, all of Starks; granddaughter, Danielle Simien and husband Patrick of Vinton; nine great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his precious wife of 66 years, Carrie Belle “Tinker” Bass; his parents; grandson, Jerry Ray Fountain; and all of his siblings.
Services will be at First Baptist Church of Starks on Friday, Mar. 8, at 10 a.m. with Bro. Ron Butler officiating. Visitation will be at First Baptist Church Family Life Center on Thursday, Mar. 7, from 5 to 9 p.m. Visitation will resume at First Baptist Church, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Doyle Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Starks in his memory.
Services have been entrusted to Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, 205 E. Harrison St., DeQuincy.
