Hornets avoid elimination against Johnson Bayou, fall in quarterfinals

By Mike Streams

On Tuesday Night, Feb. 26, a familiar foe, as well as district competitors, met once again for the regional round of the LHSAA Class C Boys Basketball playoffs.

The game was held at Singer High and the Rebels of Johnson Bayou definitely came with the mind set of moving on to the quarterfinals of the playoffs. The Rebels won the first three quarters behind a great night of shooting from Andre Trahan who contributed 36 points for the Rebels but the Hornets fought back and claimed the victory in the fourth and earned the right to face Simpson in the Quarterfinals of the playoffs.

The final score was Singer 71, Johnson Bayou 65. Top scorers for the Hornets were Isaiah Burge (15), Gavin Sandifer (14), Landon Logue (12), Josh Wood (11), Elijah Belton (10).

Top scorers for the Rebels were Andre Trahan (36), Tanner Trahan (19).

Friday night, Mar. 1, the Hornets traveled to Simpson to face them in the quarterfinals of the Class C playoffs and the Hornets fell short ending their season. The final score was Simpson 66 and Singer 47. Congratulations to Coach Cary Collins and his team on a successful year.
