Bernice Buxton Myers was born on Apr. 6, 1937 in Leesville and passed away on Mar. 22, 2019 at her residence in Singer at the age of 81.
She is survived by her children, Leland “Tony” Myers and companion Emelie Pappas of Singer, Lisa Bushnell and husband, Johnny of DeQuincy, Becky Royer and husband, Darryl of Singer and Tommy “Buck” Myers of Singer; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Larry Buxton and wife, Barbara of Houston, Texas, and Henry “Butch” Buxton and wife, Cathy of DeQuincy; and sister, Wanda Buxton of DeQuincy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Myers, her parents, Willie Buxton and Dessie Honeycutt Buxton; and sisters, Gloria Hickman and Ruth Hickman.
The family received friends on Saturday, Mar. 23, from 5-8 p.m. at Riley Smith Funeral Home in DeQuincy and the funeral service was held at Riley Smith Funeral Home on Sunday, Mar. 24, beginning at 2 p.m. Rev. Clyde Clark officiated. Interment followed at Bilbo Cemetery in Singer.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
