Tigers stay perfect in district play

By Mike Streams

The district leading DeQuincy Tigers baseball team hosted the Eagles from Rosepine last Wednesday evening, Apr. 3, in a pivotal district contest.

The Tigers had defeated the 4-1 district second place team earlier in the year at Rosepine 4-3, giving the Eagles one district loss, therefore making this contest a crucial matchup.

The Tigers came into the contest with an undefeated district record of 5-0 and could move to a stellar 6-0 district record with the win.

The Eagles struck first by scoring a run in the top half of the first inning, but the Tigers behind the pitcher Boogie Miller managed to hold the Eagles scoreless the rest of the game. Miller picked up the win for the Tigers keeping them in the hunt for a district title.

Top hitters for the Tigers were Cullen Pharris with a double and adding singles were Hunter Perkins, and Cooper Hext.

The Tigers traveled to Oakdale Monday night, Apr. 8, and will travel to Pickering on Thursday. Apr. 11.
