Eugene Orville Lyons, 96, passed away on Saturday, Apr. 6, 2019 at Greenwood Nursing Home in Bowling Green, Ky. He was born in Beauregard Parish, Gordon area.
He was a Pvt. T-4 Medical DeTach 707 Tank Battalion POW from Dec. 12, 1944 to Apr. 2, 1945 in Germany. While in Germany, he met Ursula Ilse Riess and they married on Oct. 12, 1948 in Regensburg.
He is survived by Charles O. Lyons and wife Jean of Bowling Green, two grandchildren, C. J. and wife Leslie of Franklin, Tenn. and Christine and Ryan Jenkins of Bowling Green.
Preceeding him in death, were his parents, Gus and Cornelia Lyons; brother, Aubrey Lyons; and sisters, Retha, Mary Ruth, Allie Jean, Gussie; and wife, Ursula.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
