Hornets, Panthers face off on diamond

Tuesday Apr. 16, the Singer Hornets hosted the Starks Panthers in a district contest.

Tate Hess was on the mound for the Hornets and T. Ledoux took the mound for the Panthers. It was a close game throughout the contest as Singer managed to plate one run in the second inning and Starks plated two in their half of the fifth to take a 2-1 lead over the Hornets.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Hornets pushed two runs across the plate to finish the scoring for the night and defeating the Panthers, 3-2. Leading the Panthers at the plate were T. Ledoux and J. Thompson both having a double each and adding singles were C. Buxton and G. Humphreys.

Leading hitters for the Hornets were Hunter Seal with two hits. Adding hits as well were Brayden Easley, Tye Hess, Gavin Sandifer and Landon Logue.

The Hornets finished eighth in state and drew a bye for the first round of the playoffs and will host Saline on Monday, Apr. 29. Starks finishing at number 10 will travel to Calvin on Monday, Apr. 29 after drawing a bye in the first round.
