Panthers place third at regional track meet

The Starks High School Panther Track Team took Third Overall in the Regional Meet held in Hackberry High School on Monday, Apr. 15.

Nine teams competed in the LHSAA Region II-C Meet.

Field event medals were awarded to Abbie Clark, 2nd for Silver in Discus, and a 3rd place bronze in Shot Put; Kaleb McClelland threw for Silver with a 2nd in Shot Put; Peyton Williams threw for a Bronze 3rd in Shot Put, and Conner Buxton sprang for a Bronze 3rd in High Jump.

Individual Track medals were awarded to Dana Shelton with a Gold for 1st in the 400m, Dalton Pevoto 2nd with a Silver 400m; Keleigh Phillips took a Silver 2nd in 100m hurdles, Savanna Hutson a bronze 3rd in 100m hurdles, and Isabelle DeVille a bronze 3rd in the 800m.

Relay events saw medals going to the girls 4x100m Abbie Clark, Grace Gillis, Keleigh Phillips and Chloe Haynes Bronze for 3rd; boys 4x100m Garret Humphrey, Dalton Collier, Carter Humphrey and Dylan Mumaw Silver for 2nd; girls 4x200m Dana Shelton, Grace Gillis, Chloe Haynes and Jadelyn Marcantel Bronze for 3rdplace; boys 4x200m Garret Humphrey, Dalton Collier, Carter Humphrey and Dylan Mumaw Silver for 2nd place; girls 4x400m Dana Shelton, Grace Gillis, Keleigh Phillips, and Savanna Hutson Bronze for 3rd and the boys 4x400m took 1st place with Gold going to Dalton Collier, Kadyn Howard, Dalton Pevoto, and Carter Humphrey.

These track and field athletes also qualified for state and will be participating in their events on Thursday, May 2, at the at the Allstate Sugarbowl LHSAA Track & Field State Meet in Baton Rouge at the LSY Bernie Moore Track Stadium.
