Robert Franklin Mitchell, 84, of Oretta, died Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings.
He was born in DeRidder. Surviving him are six children, Elaine Lewis of San Antonio, Texas, Michael Mitchell of Gueydan, Jerry Mitchell of Clinton Township, Mich., Keith Mitchell and Craig Mitchell, both of Oretta, and David Mitchell of San Antonio, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Pete Mitchell and Leo Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Cox Mitchell; father, John Burt Mitchell; mother, Flarie Mitchell; five brothers; and one son, Gregory Mitchell.
He was a long time resident of Oretta. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service.
His funeral was held Tuesday, May 7, at Bible Baptist Church in DeQuincy. Eric Aultman officiated. Burial followed at Newlin Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
