Dorothy Williams

Dorothy Mae Williams was born on Feb. 3, 1931 in Jonesville and passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019 in Sulphur at the age of 88.

Dorothy loved family get togethers, spending time with her family and friends. She also loved to cook, travel, play cards and she loved her babies. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She will be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Teeter and husband, Larry of Franklin, Ga.; Sharon Williams of Sulphur; Kathy Hammett of Starks and Harold Hammett of Sulphur; Deborah Norgaard of Bossier City; Roger Williams of Starks and James Brandon Williams of Starks; along with 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Frank Phillips and wife, Glenda of Sulphur, William “Winkie” Phillips and wife, Hazel of Sulphur; and sisters, Helen Young and Barbara Denman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Alvin Williams; daughter, Christine Evon Thompson; parents, Charlie and Ethyle Phillips; three sisters; and one brother.

The family received friends from 12 noon until 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Gambrell Baptist Church, 246 Gambrell Church Road, Starks, with the funeral service beginning at 3:30 p.m. Interment followed at Smith Cemetery, Smith Cemetery Road, Starks.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
