Robert Edward “RJ” Sims Jr., 48, died Sunday, May 12, 2019 in Gretna.
He was born in Sulphur. He graduated from Arch Bishop Shaw High School in Marrero. He attended USL University and was a former employee of Union Pacific Railroad and Rail Logics in Lacassine. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include two sons, Juwan D. Sims and Robert E. Sims III; one stepdaughter, Shelby Andras-Haynes; and his mother, Sherry Cole Sims.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Edward Sims Sr.; paternal grandparents, Freeman and Audrey Sims; and maternal grandparents, Leon and Marjorie Cole.
His funeral was held Saturday, May 18, at Evergreen Baptist Church in DeQuincy. Pastor James Harris officiated. Burial was in Paradise Cemetery in DeQuincy under the direction of James Funeral Home.
