Dakota Singleton

Dakota Dale Singleton, a resident of Starks was born in Lake Charles on Dec. 15, 1999 and passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the age of 19.

Dakota graduated from Starks High School in May, 2018 and he was attending Lamar State College in Orange, Texas. While in high school, he played basketball for the Starks Panthers.

Dakota was a jokester; he loved sports, hunting, fishing, playing the guitar and writing music. He was a friend to all, loved by many and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Dakota is survived by his parents, Jody Dale Singleton and wife, Melissa of Starks, and Lisa DeAnn Benoit and husband, George of Cameron; his siblings, Heather Pugh and husband Cody, Timothy Collins, Jade LaVergne, Dustin LeDoux, Christopher LeDoux, Savannah Singleton and Blake and Brett Benoit; grandparents, Donna and Tommy Wells, Bernice Monroe and Carmen Benoit; and one nephew, Ryder Drake Singleton. He is also survived by his godparents, Mike and Monica West; best friend, Drake West; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, LeRoy and Cathy Wilson; Ronnie Dale Singleton; Lee Trahan and John Paul Benoit.

The family received friends Saturday June 29, from 12 noon-4 p.m. at First Pentecostal Church, 225 Highway 109 S. in Starks and the funeral service followed at 4 p.m. Rev. Ron Butler officiated. Interment was privete.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
