Nelda Alfano

Graveside services for Nelda Olee Cooley Alfano, 78, of Big Spring, Texas were held Thursday, May 30, 2019, at Mount Olive Cemetery in Big Spring.

She died Monday, May 27, 2019 after a brief stay in the hospital in Midland, Texas. She was a native of DeQuincy.

She graduated Valedictorian of Singer High School in 1959. After graduating high school, she worked as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell. She moved to France, after marrying Leon Ralph Alfano on Nov. 5, 1960. She worked as an insurance coordinator at Hall Bennett Hospital for 16 years before becoming office manager of Coronado Hills Apartments in Big Spring, Texas. She retired with her husband in Big Spring.

Survivors include her husband, Leon Ralph Alfano; two sons, Ralph Anthony Alfano and Kenneth Alan Alfano and wife Audry, two grandsons and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ira Cooley of Sherman, Texas and Robert Cooley, and wife Kathy of Longview, Texas and one sister-in-law, Joyce Cooley of DeQuincy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Mattie Coolie of DeQuincy; and one brother, Norman Cooley.
