Prentice Hyatt

Prentice Ebb Hyatt, 77, a resident of Starks died on Monday, June 24, 2019, at his home.

He was born in DeRidder.

He is survived by one child, Amanda Lanell Hyatt Deen and her husband Keith Deen, Jr. of Starks; and siblings, Homer Ray Hyatt, Linda Hyatt Richard, Carolyn Sue Hyatt Wolf, all of Starks, and Michael Lynn Hyatt of Lake Charles.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Pearl Smith Hyatt; parents, Willie Elton and Barbara Lee Clark Hyatt; and two siblings.

He resided most of his life in Starks. He graduated from Starks High School in 1960. In his early life, he was a professional painter. Later, he earned his CDL with HAZMAT endorsement and became an owner-operator of tanker-trucks with two additional trucks and drivers. He worked in the logistical industry for 30 years, driving mostly for Miller Transporters from the Beaumont, Texas terminal. In addition, he managed a cow-calf operation for approximately 50 years and was a landlord for 30 years. He was raised into the DeQuincy Masonic Lodge #279 in 1963.

A memorial service was held Saturday, June 29, at First Baptist Church of Starks. Rev. Ron Butler officiated. Interment followed at Smith Cemetery of Starks under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
