Alma Jane Foster Sterling, 69, was born on Oct. 5, 1949 in DeQuincy and passed away Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019 in Beaumont, Texas. Alma loved life; she loved shopping and traveling, especially the many trips she made to her “happy place”, Branson, Mo. Alma’s grandchildren were her entire world. She will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends.
She is survived by her husband, Rodney Earl Sterling; son, James Robert Evans and wife, Beverly; grandchildren, Korbin Foster Evans, Evelyn Kay Evans and Corra Bryann Evans. She is also survived by her sister, Paula Foster West and husband, Michael Stallard; and her nephew, Benjamin West.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Foster and Lillian Maxine Franklin Foster Johnson.
The family received friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at Riley Smith Funeral Home in DeQuincy. The funeral service was held at Riley Smith Funeral Home at 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 9. Rev. David Myer of Abundant Life Sanctuary in Groves, Texas officiated. Interment followed at Spikes Cemetery in Merryville.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
