The annual Art Walk and Battle, hosted by the DeQuincy Garden Club, is set for Sunday, Sept. 15, from 2-4 p.m. in the historic downtown area. The Art Battle will take place in the McNamara pavilion.

As the contestants are painting, visitors are encouraged to not only watch the battle but to also take time to view the rich heritage of the community displayed in various murals in the downtown area, and to visit the Town Hall Museum, which will be featuring works by local artists. Throughout the museum, artifacts and pictures reflect the history of the town of DeQuincy.

During the Art Battle, the artists (singular or teams), using their own paints, will create a mural on four-foot sheets of plywood provided by the club. Members of the audience will vote on their favorite murals by donating money into the artists’ tip jars.
