Tigers win close one against Oakdale

By Mike Suchanek

What a way to begin district play. A hard fought back and forth battle to the end and come out victorious with a 31-29 win over district rival Oakdale.

Oakdale kicked off the scoring on the night with a 38-yard field goal. From that point it was pretty much, you score, I’ll match you. This game was a back and forth contest most of the night, until DeQuincy made a great defensive stand on Oakdale’s last possession, to get the ball back and just kneel on the ball to run the clock out.

Gunner Gearen was once again excellent through the air amassing 276 yards on 24 for 31 passing. His top targets were Taije Ceaser with 7 for 113, Cooper Hext added 8 for 97 and Braylon Snell 5 catches for 71 yards.

The leading rusher for this game was Gunner Gearen who ran 11 times for 51 yards.

Next up, Pickering comes to town for Homecoming. Game is Friday at 7 p.m. See you there.
