By Mike Suchanek

Homecoming was a success! We crowned the Queen; crowned the Football Sweetheart and won the football game.

After a back and forth first half with each team trading scores, DeQuincy took control in the second half behind a couple of early turnovers by Pickering to pull away for the 42-14 homecoming victory. DeQuincy shut Pickering out in the second half.

The homecoming crowd was treated to an air show as quarterback Gunner Gearen accounted for 361 yards passing with 22 completions on 30 attempts, with 5 touchdowns passing. Two went to Cooper Hext who had 8 catches for 163 yards, 2 to Taije Ceaser who had 6 catches for 79 yards and 1 to Braylon Snell who had 4 receptions for 75 yards.

DeQuincy was led on the ground attack by Corben Royer with 80 hard fought yards.

The defense had a good night holding Pickering to less than 250 yards total offense. Pickering only had 35 yards passing as they gained most of their yards on the ground.
