Wesley Garsee

Wesley R. Garsee, a native and resident of DeQuincy passed away Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019 at the age of 89.

Wesley proudly served his country in the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He retired from Citgo after 27 1/2 years of service. Upon his retirement, he and his wife, Lois spent time traveling each summer. They traveled the United States, visiting 49 states and Canada. He was a faithful member of The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and he will be missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lois Shuff Garsee; daughter, Rhonda Pyatt of Birmingham, Ala. and son, Ray Garsee and wife, Shelia of Fort Worth, Texas; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Gladys Garsee; and five siblings.

The family received friends 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, and the funeral service began at 1 p.m at Riley Smith Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Pastor Wayne Neyland officiated. Interment followed at Riley Smith Memorial Park in DeQuincy.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made to Lighthouse Ranch For Boys, Post Office Box 238 Loranger LA 70446 or a charity of your choice.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
