Neyland named DHS Student of the Year

Molly Neyland

Molly Neyland, a senior at DeQuincy High School, has been named the 2019-2020 Student of the Year.

The High School Student of the Year Awards Program is designed to recognize outstanding high school students throughout the parish, region, and state. These students have demonstrated excellent academic achievement, leadership ability and citizenship.

Neyland currently has a 4.05 GPA and is presently serving as the Student Council President at DeQuincy High. She has been an active member of Student Council, BETA, YFC as well as a member of the Select Choir. She is also involved in the community serving others, as well as serving in her church, The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy. Service to others is a passion and way of life for her.

She plans to attend McNeese State University in the fall and major in Elementary Education, working toward her goal of teaching and one day being in a leadership position in our public school system.

Neyland is the daughter of Rev. Wayne and Janet Neyland of DeQuincy.
