DeQuincy basketball boys and girls and Singer boys and girls were among 19 teams that battled it out over the Thanksgiving holidays at the annual Lakeside Tournament in Westlake.
DeQuincy boys played St. Louis in their opening game, dropping the contest 75-36. The boys then took on Barbe losing 54-81.
Singer boys opened up with Host Westlake taking the hard fought loss 58-68. Singer came back in the second game downing Beaumont Kelly 71-59 taking the Hornets to the finals of the consolation bracket where they beat Barbe 52-49. Singer boys came out the Consolation Bracket Champion.
Singer girls played in four games winning 2 and losing 2. Singer girls opened up facing DeQuincy defeating the Lady Tigers 43-15. Next up the Lady Hornets beat 5A A Sam Houston in double overtime 50-49. The Lady Hornets then dropped the next two games to Westlake 47-12 and Airline 52-37
DeQuincy girls played three games against Singer 43-15, DeRidder 55-27 and Grand Lake 37-27. All 3 games were losses for the young Lady Tigers.
