Harris named DeQuincy Middle Student of Year

Jazmyn Renay Harris has been selected as DeQuincy Middle School Student of the Year. She is an eighth grade student who participates in both school and community activities while managing to keep an overall grade point average of 4.0. Harris enjoys drawing, sleeping, eating, reading, coloring and getting good grades. When asked to list her best qualities, she chose dependable, disciplined, goal orientated, determined, and honest.

At school, she is involved in Student Council for three years, where she serves as the Vice President at this time. She is a member of the Beta Club, Set Apart Club, and has been a member of DMS band. She plays softball and has been selected to Dixie Youth All Stars for several years. She is a member of the Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church and participates in the youth group as well as the youth choir.

Harris’ future plans are to take college credit classes during high school and graduate with honors. She plans to attend Louisiana State University and major in orthodontics and own her own business. She is the daughter of Brandon and Carla Harris and the granddaughter of Robert and Minnie Frank and Rev. James and Linda Harris, all of DeQuincy.
