John David “Poppa Fibber” Johnson was born Jan. 14, 1938 and passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019 at the age of 81.
He is survived by his children, Janie Ashworth and husband, Ricky and Anthony Johnson and wife, Cheryl, all of Starks. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cody Ashworth and wife, Sarah, Kyle Ashworth and wife, Rebekah, David Johnson, Laci Johnson, Joel Johnson, Brittney Johnson and Landy Johnson and wife, Monica and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Caroll Johnson and wife, Helen, Loyd Johnson, Hilda Smith and JoAllen Granger and husband, Jim.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Dolores Faye Johnson; son, Shannon Johnson; parents, Barney and Johnie Johnson; and sister, Janis Boggs.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, and 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at First Pentecostal Church, 225 Hwy. 109 S. in Starks. The funeral service began at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, with Pastor Karl Smith officiating. Interment followed at Miller Annex Cemetery in Starks.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
