Nettie Lucille (Clark) Spell, 87, of Starks was born Feb. 8, 1932 in Starks. She passed from this life on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019 in DeQuincy.
She is survived by five children, Patricia (Pudge) Foster and husband, Lynn, Sharon Bussell and husband Woody, George “Tinker” Spell and wife, Brenda, Herbert “Chubby” Spell all of Starks and Howard “Bitsy” Spell of Duson. Also, left to cherish her memory are 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Eva Richard. Two very close friends, Ms. Claudia Braneff and Ms. Mary Anderson, have been pillars of support and strength for the Spell family
She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Howard Spell; her parents, Elzie and Polly Arnetta Clark; three brothers, Winifred, Curtis and Norman Clark; three sisters, Nelva Tynes, Bertie Sabins, and Vertie Bell Miller; along with one grandson, Jeremiah Spell.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019 at Calvary Apostolic Church of Starks, 4270 Highway 12, Starks. The funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, at Calvary Apostolic Church with Pastor Jeremy Shields officiating. Interment followed at Miller Cemetery Annex in Starks.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
