Murphy Wayne “Joe” West was born Jan. 7, 1937 in Singer and passed away at his residence in DeQuincy Jan. 11, 2020 at the age of 83. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his children, Rhonda West Smith and husband, Greg of Lake Charles, Lisa West Droddy of DeQuincy, Derek West and wife, Melissa of Mauriceville, Texas, Joyce West of DeQuincy, and Glynis Marcantel of San Francisco, Calif.; his grandchildren, Casey Smith, Sean Smith, Logan Smith, Chad Perkins, Krista West, Tiffany West, Rebecca Cooper, Jared West, Christopher O’Bannon, Gage Marcantel and Madison Streeter; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Mona Lutz of Palm Springs, Calif..
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Marion and Lanie Johnson West; three brothers and two sisters.
The family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, with the funeral service to begin at 11 a.m. at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Bro. Michael Streams will officiate. Interment will follow at Good Hope Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
