Rachel Jackson

Rachel L. Jackson was born Apr. 14, 1958 and passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020 at the age of 61.

She is survived by her beloved husband and constant companion for over 40 years, Amos J. Jackson, Jr., her son, Marlon Brando Glass and wife, Ashley of Florida and daughter, Lila Monique Jackson of Maryland; grandchildren, Asheton, Jaleel, Jacquelyn, Marlon, II and Sayvion Mayfield; sisters, Nancy Mosley of Houston, Texas, Peggy White Adams of Houston, Texas, Ora Thomas of DeQuincy, Margaret Richard of Lake Charles, and Deborah Rollins of Atlanta, Ga.; brothers, Earl Glass, Jr. of Lake Charles and David P White of Monroe; sisters-in-law, Bessie Bluiett of Beaumont, Texas, Delores Bluitt of DeQuincy, and Barbara Jackson of Houston, Texas; brothers-in-law, Michael Jackson of Lafayette and Edward Jackson of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her nephews, Percy Jackson, Brian Jackson, and Eric Jackson of Houston, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Glass, Sr. and Ruthie Mae Glass White; brothers, Alvin Glass, Sr. and Empry Young, Jr., sister-in-law, Thelma McCarter; her grandparents, uncles, aunties and cousins of Louisiana.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Letha Mae Marburgh Johnson, Alice Glass, Betty Doyle, LaShondra Mitchell and Kim Mitchell for taking care of their loved one.

The family received friends from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. The visitation and funeral were held at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 511 S. Grand Ave., DeQuincy with Pastor Allen J. Williams, Jr. officiating. Interment followed in Community Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
