Sammy Yellott Memorial Tournament

DeQuincy High School Tigers hosted the annual Sammy Yellott Memorial Tournament this past weekend and played three good teams.

In Game 1, DeQuincy played Pine Prairie and came away with a 11-1 victory. Jake Pharris was the winning picture, going a strong 6 innings.

Leading the Tigers at the plate was Cooper Hext who went 4 for 4. Rayden Rosalis added two hits, with Hunter Perkins, Gavin Gary and Brandon Duraso picking up a hit apiece.

Next up for DeQuincy was big LaGrange squad. The Tigers proved once again the victors with a strong 12-2 victory.

Pitching for the Tigers were Traive Goutreaux, Brandon Duraso and Jacob Goodfriend.

Leading the Tigers at the plate with a Homerun was Hunter Perkins, who finished the day with three total hits. Gavin Gary and Hadley Cooley each picked up two hits with Cooper Hext, Rayden Rosalis, Jake Pharris and Brandon Duraso each picking up one hit.

Last up for the Tigers was a hard fought game against 3A Iowa. The Tigers once again we’re victorious coming out on top 3-2.

Hadley Cooley pitched 6 strong innings with Cooper Hext closing the game out.

On the offensive side of things it was Cooper Hext leading the way with 2 base hits. Hadley Cooley also had 2 hits. Rayden Rosalis, Gavin Gary and Reese Ashworth each collected one hit.

The Tigers finished the tournament 3-0 and now stand at 8-0 on the young season.

The Tiger squad wants to thank all those who worked so hard for them on the tournament this weekend.
