High school sports

LHSAA recently released a chart that will be followed for the 2020-21 school year concerning all sports for boys and girls.

The new DeQuincy High School football Coach Matthew Dufresne, who was hired as head football coach this past off season has been having summer workouts with the football team. The workouts that have been allowed by LHSAA this year have been different than years gone by. The gym and workout area must be sanitized every day after every workout. Masks were not mandatory until Monday, July 13.

As of now, we do not know how the season will be conducted or even when it will be played.

There has been some talk of swapping the seasons. Traditional fall sports (football and volleyball) would swap to the spring and traditional spring sports (baseball, softball and track) would be swapped and played in the fall. The thinking is there’s less physical contact with the spring sports.

We are at this moment preparing our student athletes like we are going to play in the fall like normal. This is a fluid situation and we will be ready when our time comes. We are trying our best to serve our student athletes, while striving to keep everyone safe.
