DeQuincy Middle reopens October 23

The Calcasieu Parish School Board is adding additional schools to the list of those reopening for students following Hurricanes Laura and Delta.

DeQuincy Middle School will be open for students return on Friday, Oct. 23.

DeQuincy Elementary, DeQuincy Primary and Starks High students returned to campuses on Monday, Oct. 19.

The previously announced blue/gold schedule will remain in place for all 7th-12th grade students, while students in Pre-kindergarten through 6th grade will report to campuses five days a week.

If a school is still closed at this time, we are working alongside contracting companies to expedite repairs. Estimated timelines are difficult to provide at this time due to uncertainties in the repair process. Just like what many of our community members are facing with their own homes, additional damages can be discovered during the repair process or repairs could take longer than anticipated.

We certainly want all of our students back on our campuses as soon as safely possible, and we are doing our very best to make that happen. Online learning remains available for all of our students as all of our schools continue to work toward offering classes in our regular face-to-face environment.
