L.O.V.E. to celebrate 9 years of service to seniors

In February, LOVE (Loving Our Very own Elderly) Community Mission will host their 9th year Celebration for Seniors!

LOVE Community Mission was organized on Feb. 8, 2012 and a proclamation was made on May 16, 2015.

The 3rd Saturday in May of every year we honor/commemorate our elderly/disabled for Older Americans month. Also in February we have a Valentine Social event.

Cycle Knights of Port Arthur, Texas sponsored this yearly event. We dedicate this year to them as well. They are Shalina Allen, Mike Bryant, Casey Walters, Cyrus Walter, Delvin Baker, Harold Cornell and in memory of Leo Garrett.

Much gratitude is given to Amos Jones and John Boyd for providing the location, Joseph T. Mueller Hall, for this event for our seniors.

The Mission has monthly birthday classified ads wishing all seniors birthday cheers.

The 2020 Covid-19 pandemic/Hurricane season has been a non-traditional year. We still stayed connected to our seniors making calls, directing them to helpful resources, and our partner, La. Healthcare Connection of Baton Rouge, Chelsea Graves, Director, made Community donations.

We have hope that we all will have a close to normal year for 2021. We will continue to do what we can, when we can and for as long as we can, serving the needs of our elderly/disabled. We love the DeQuincy community and thank you for your love and support!

Let’s make that sacrificial love for each other/family for a normal and better 2021.

Reminder: Wear mask or face covering; Stay vigilant (Be patient and obedient); Continue to be safe!
