Alva Wagstaff

Alva Laurie “Wag” Wagstaff, a resident of Moss Bluff, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021 at the age of 86. He was born in Center, Texas to Elzie and Odell Wagstaff on Feb. 7, 1934.

Alva retired from Halliburton after 30 years. He attended First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed singing in the church choir and being involved with the senior church group. He also drove the church bus for the senior group and the youth group.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jimmie Evelyn Wagstaff; two daughters, Laura Lambert and husband, Gary W. Lambert of Tomball, Texas and Jackie Mitchell of Houma. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Nicole LeBoeuf and husband, Jessie, Kristy Montgomery and husband, Jeff, Perry Boudwin, Jr. and Lori Farrell. He is also survived by his eleven great-grandchildren, Tyler Olivier, Kassidy Montgomery, Laiken Olivier, Brennon Olivier, Sarah LeBoeuf, Kirstyn Montgomery, Ayden Farrell, Kami Montgomery, Daymon LeBoeuf, Laurie Olivier, and Colton Farrell and one great-great-grandchild, Daxton Adams. He is also survived by his brothers, Darrell Wagstaff and Phillip Wagstaff.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elzie and Odell Wagstaff.

The family received friends Friday, Jan. 22, from 9:30-11 a.m. with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church Moss Bluff, 276 Old Highway 171, Lake Charles. The family received friends Saturday, Jan. 23, from 11 a.m. until noon at Watson & Sons Funeral Home, 1554 TX-7, Center, Texas with interment following at Patroon Cemetery in Center, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to First Baptist Church Moss Bluff, 276 Old Highway 171, Lake Charles.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
