Daisy Gilland

Daisy “Sissy” M. Gilland, 86, of DeQuincy, passed into the arms of her Savior on Saturday, Apr. 10, 2021, at DeQuincy Memorial Hospital.

Sissy was born to her late parents, Charles and Daisy Gilland on Mar. 20, 1935 in DeQuincy. She was employed for Gray Nissan, where she retired after 30 plus years. She then went to work for Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, where she served families with love for 16 years. To know Sissy was to love her, and she truly loved people and never met a stranger.

She is survived by her son, Joey Gilland of DeQuincy; four grandchildren, Laranda Andrews and Daniel Peterson of Central, Korey Ferjak and Austin Barry of Colorado Springs, Colo., Hunter Gilland of DeQuincy, Dennis Andrews of Central; six great grandchildren, Ashlyn Wilson, Dawson Andrews, Bryson Andrews, Aleece Andrews, Maison Andrews, Braxton Andrews; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Sissy was preceded in death by her two brothers, Charles William Gilland and Bobby Eugene Gilland; along with her sister, Lucille Gilland Hodges.

A Celebration of Sissy’s life was held at The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy Activities Center on Tuesday, Apr. 13, at 10 a.m. Pastor Wayne Neyland officiated. Visitation was at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy on Monday, Apr. 12, from 5 until 8 p.m. Visitation resumed at The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy Activities Center, beginning at 8 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial followed at Masonic Cemetery.

The family would like to express their sincerest thanks to the staff at DeQuincy Memorial Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion they showed to Sissy and her family during this difficult time.
