Lady Tigers upset Beekman Charter in first round

The DeQuincy Lady Tigers were awarded a 20-seed in the LHSAA class 2A playoffs in 2021 after last year’s tournament was cancelled.

The Lady Tigers faced the 13th seeded Beekman Charter Lady Tigers from Bastrop.

The game was played Monday, Apr. 19, in Bastrop at 5 p.m.

The DeQuincy Lady Tigers took the lead late and defeated Beekman 5-4 on Monday. The game was tied at four with the DeQuincy Lady Tigers batting in the top of the eighth when Ashlyn Bullitt grounded out, scoring one run.

Beekman scored three runs in the fourth inning, but the DeQuincy Lady Tigers still managed to pull out the victory. Bayleigh Elton and Abigail Davis powered the big inning with RBIs.

Beekman opened up scoring in the second inning. An error scored one run for Beekman.

The Lady Tigers knotted the game up at four in the top of the seventh inning. The Lady Tigers scored two runs when Adah Doucet doubled.

The DeQuincy Lady Tigers scored three runs in the seventh inning. The Lady Tigers put the pressure on, lead by a single by Baileigh Kellogg and a double by Doucet.

Raeleigh Granger earned the victory in the circle for the DeQuincy Lady Tigers. The pitcher lasted eight innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out three.

Cadence Gray took the loss for Beekman. The pitcher allowed seven hits and five runs over eight innings, striking out ten.

The DeQuincy Lady Tigers totaled seven hits in the game. Katie Willis and Kellogg each collected two hits for the DeQuincy Lady Tigers.
