Rev. Steve Zorich, Jr.

Reverend Steve J. Zorich, Jr., 65, received his heavenly reward Wednesday, Apr. 14, 2021. He was pastor of the Diboll First United Pentecostal Church in Diboll, Texas.

Reverend Zorich was born Nov. 2, 1955 in El Paso, Texas. He grew up in Biloxi, Miss. where he graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1973. Steve worked for the United States Postal Service as a carrier in Pascagoula, Miss. On July 16, 1978, he received the gift of the Holy Ghost at First Pentecostal Jesus Name Church in Biloxi. Steve married the love of his life Daphne Dearing on Mar. 22, 1980.

He felt God’s calling on his life and was ordained by Elder James H. Springer. After leaving the postal service, He evangelized for about a year and a half. Reverend Zorich became pastor of First Apostolic Church in Tyler, Texas in 1987. Shortly following, he was ordained a United Pentecostal minister and served the ministry in the Texas District, UPC. He served First Apostolic Church 21 Years with his wife Daphne at his side. After pastoring in Tyler, he heeded God’s call to evangelize.

He traveled for almost nine years spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ across the United States. Reverend Zorich was elected as Pastor of Diboll First United Pentecostal Church. He preached his first service as Pastor, July 2, 2017. He was loved dearly by his congregation whom he loved unreservedly. God put a love in his heart for the small East Texas town of Diboll.

Pastor Zorich was loved by everyone who knew him. He always gave an encouraging word and touched many people’s lives. To know Steve J. Zorich, Jr. was to know a man who loved God wholeheartedly, his wife devoutly, and family and friends unconditionally.

He was preceded in death by his father, Steve J. Zorich, Sr.; his grandparents, John and Lena Zorich and Neal and Hilda McAllister.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Daphne Zorich; his mother, Beverly J. Zorich of Biloxi, Miss.; his siblings, Stephanie (Jack) Cox of Dothan, Ala., Joy (George) McAllister of Ocean Springs, Miss., John (Brenda) Zorich and Michael (Ellen) Zorich of Biloxi, Miss.; Eric and Amy Eves and their two boys, Ethan and Eason who Steve is their Paw Paw­; countless nephews and nieces and thousands who are Steve’s friends.

Service was held Tuesday, Apr. 20. Visitation was from 12 to 2 p.m. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Mike Littlefield followed at 2 p.m. at Tyler Tabernacle, 3115 E 5th St in Tyler, Texas.

Graveside service will be held Thursday, Apr. 22 at 11 a.m. at Crestlawn Memorial Park, 4111 Bienville Blvd. (Hwy 90) in Ocean Springs, Miss.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St. DeQuincy.
