Christopher Simpkins

Christopher Shane Simpkins, 48, of Longville died on Monday, Apr. 12, 2021 in a local hospital.

Born in Selma, Ala., he was a 1990 graduate of Walker High School and a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, with a degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Spanish.

He served for four years in the U.S. National Guard as Military Police. He worked with the U.S. Border Patrol for 24 years, spending most of those as an agent assigned to the Lake Charles Border Patrol Station and the past few years assigned to prosecutions.

He lived ten years in Kingsville, Tenn., ten years in Moss Bluff, and the past four years in Longville. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff.

He is survived by his wife, Sofia Melendez Simpkins; daughter, Samantha Karina Simpkins, both of Longville; father, George James “Jimmy” Simpkins and wife Nancy of Thomasville, Ala.; mother, Jackie Green Coggin and husband John of Center Point, Ala.; brothers, David Simpkins of Birmingham, Ala. and Cody Simpkins of Mobile, Ala.; grandfather, John G. “Jack” Green, of Center Point, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George Simpkins, III, LaVon Simpkins, and Mary Edna “Granny” Green.

His funeral service was held Monday, Apr. 19, at First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff. Rev. Bill Saxby officiated. Burial followed in New Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff.
