Robert Reed

Robert Anthony Reed “Tony”, 76, of Jennings died Sunday, June 6, 2021 in Jennings.

He was born in Jennings. He graduated from Jennings High School, attended LSU, and graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing from Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State University, in San Marcos, Texas.

He was honorably discharged from the Army as a Captain on Mar. 16, 1972. During his service, he served two tours in Vietnam as a fixed wing aviator (Birddog pilot) receiving multiple medals and commendations. He worked as a registered nurse, a business owner, a consultant, a woodworker, and a wood carver.

He is survived by his wife, Debi; children, Michelle James and husband Kevin of Henderson, Nevada, Melissa Simpson and husband Keven of Levelland, Texas, Michael and wife Ashley Stephens Reed of DeQuincy; seven grandchildren; and siblings, Daniel Patrick Reed, Marie Elaine Walker, Kenny, Margaret Ann Stelly, Katherine Louise Carrier, Mary Elizabeth Reed, and John Edwin Reed.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Carolyn; parents, Iona Rampmaier Reed (Sis) and Samuel Wallace Reed, Sr. (Wallace); and four siblings.

Visitation will resume on Wednesday, June 9, from 8 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings with Rev. Keith Pellerin officiating. His inurnment will be held at the Southwest Louisiana Veteran Cemetery in Jennings on Thursday, June 10, at 11 a.m. under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
