Vickie Windham

Vickie Lynn Windham was born in DeQuincy on July 3, 1956 and passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021 at the age of 64.

Vickie graduated from DeQuincy High School in 1974. Following graduation she pursued a nursing degree at McNeese State University where she graduated and began her career as a registered nurse. She worked in Labor and Delivery at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital for many years. After leaving West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital, she became a traveling nurse and traveled throughout the United States. Vickie loved her dogs, they were her “Fur Babies”. She also loved traveling, shopping and most of all she loved her family and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her father, Bobby Windham; sisters, Rhonda Scarpulla and husband, Tony, Kathy Abdalla and husband, David, Susan Fontenot and husband, Wade and Mary Cooper and husband, Ben; and brother, Buddy Windham and wife, Jessica.

She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Becky Guerin and husband, David, Tabitha Scarpulla, Devin Abdalla, Dillon Abdalla, Alyssa Fontenot, Braeden Fontenot, Bryce Hollie and husband, Kaleb, Jake Cooper, Erin Windham, Joshua Windham; and her Fur Baby, Maggie.

She is also survived by her great-nieces and great-nephews, Jamison, Jared, Tyler and Stevie; and cousins, Donna Torres and Jan Gray; DeMo the Brat, her best friend and traveling buddy, Beth Pullam.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ramona Windham; nephew, Daniel Young; and Fur Baby, Murrie.

The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 18, and the funeral service will began at 7 p.m. A prayer service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 19. The visitation, funeral and prayer service were held at First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy, 232 Smith St., DeQuincy. Pastor Carlton Jackson, Jr. and Rev. T. D. Cardwell officiated. Interment followed at Hyatt Cemetery in Fields.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
